FALCON brings together a consortium of world-class partners including internationally recognized research groups in fluid-structure interaction using numerical simulation and experiments; Major companies developing numerical simulation softwares for fluid dynamics and solid dynamics; An internationally renowned research center for high-performance computing; and a major actor in the European aeronautical industry.

AMU - Université d'Aix-Marseille


AMU is a research-intensive university that has forged partnerships all over the world, asserted its roots and territorial integration, and ranks among France's top universities in the Shanghai rankings. It is involved in the project through the M2P2 laboratory which is a joint research unit attached to the AMU, the CNRS, and to Centrale Marseille. The laboratory has an original position with research covering the fields of Computational Fluid Mechanics and Chemical Engineering.
AMU is the coordinator of the FALCON project, it leads the WP1 and brings its expertise in work packages 2, and 4.

Airbus Operations S.L.


AIRBUS is a global pioneer in the aerospace industry, operating in the commercial aircraft, helicopters, defence, and space sectors. The Company is a leader in designing, manufacturing, and delivering aerospace products, services, and solutions to customers on a worldwide scale. Their involvement in the FALCON project aims at unveiling more effective and reliable simulation techniques for predicting FSI and related loads and noise emissions. AIRBUS is involved in work packages 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. AIRBUS will define tailored exploitation routes for the project results.

AIRBUS is also participating in the project through its affiliated entities in Germany, France, and United-Kingdom.

KIT - Karlsruher Institut FĂĽr Technologie


The Lattice Boltzmann Research Group (LBRG) at KIT is an interdisciplinary research group that aims to take advantage of novel mathematical modeling strategies and numerical methods to enable large-scale simulations and optimal control of fluid flows for applications in process engineering. As a participant in the FALCON project, KIT is involved in work packages 2, 3, 4, and 5, starting with physical model development, its validation, embedding into adjoint optimization solvers, and software parallelization for higher-scale HPC machines.

CS Group


CS GROUP is a European mid-size company with a culture of entrepreneurship, it is agile and innovative and possesses a high level of technical and professional expertise. CS GROUP is the trusted partner of leading French and international groups for the digitalization of operational systems. It develops scientific and technical software since more than 40 years for their major clients in various strategic domains (nuclear, aerospace, automotive). In the FALCON project, CS GROUP is involved in work packages 2, 3, 4, and 5. It is strongly involved in the simulation and validation of the 3 test cases in collaboration with AMU, DLR, AIRBUS and MSC.

Hexagon AB


Hexagon AB is the global leader in digital reality solutions, combining sensor, software and autonomous technologies. It develops a collection of solutions dedicated to simulate complex industrial problems involving different physics. As a participant in the FALCON project, Hexagon AB is strongly involved in work packages 2, 3, and 5, through its subsidiary located in Belgium. It will bring the expertise in structural dynamics solution to address the FALCON challenges.



Euronovia is a French consulting company (SME) specialized in supporting EU funded projects with activities related to management and communication and dissemination of project results. Euronovia has also a strong expertise in writing grant applications in response to Horizon Europe call for proposals. In the FALCON project, Euronovia will lead WP6 on Communication, Dissemination & Exploitation activities in order to disseminate the FALCON project results to the appropriate stakeholders.

Deutsches Zentrum FĂĽr Luft Und Raumfahrt


DLR is the national aeronautics and space research center of the Federal Republic of Germany. It’s responsible for the fields of aeronautics, space, and transport research, and makes important contributions to energy research. In FALCON, the long-term and worldwide expertise of DLR will be crucial for the analysis of the aerodynamics and aeroacoustics of noise generated at the high-lift system, optical flow measurement techniques, 2D- and 3D- visualization of density fields, surface deformation measurements, direct noise computation of high-lift wing noise. It leads the WP3 and is involved in work packages 2, and 4.

IT4I@VSB - Technical University of Ostrava

Czech Republic

IT4Innovations is the leading research, development, and innovation centre active in the fields of high-performance computing (HPC), data analysis (HPDA), quantum computing (QC), and artificial intelligence (AI) and their application to other scientific fields, industry, and society. We operate the most powerful supercomputing systems in the Czech Republic, which are provided to Czech and foreign research teams from both academia and industry. As a participant in the FALCON project, IT4Innovations leads work package 5 and is involved in work packages 2, 3, and 4. Within these packages, it provides expertise in numerical modelling and simulations, optimisation of highly parallel applications and their efficient deployment on GPU-accelerated HPC clusters, and scientific data visualisation.

CNRS - Centre National de la Recherche


CNRS is a major player in basic research on the global stage and the only organisation in France that is active in all fields of science. Its unique position as a specialist in multiple fields means that it can bring together different scientific disciplines to shed light on and gain insight into current global challenges, in partnership with public sector, social and economic stakeholders.
CNRS will provide, via the M2P2 laboratory, a precious expertise in WP4 and WP2.

ECM is a leading graduate school of engineering (or Grande Ă©cole of engineering) located in Marseille, the second largest city in France.
ECM will provide, via the M2P2 laboratory, an expertise in statistics, in the development and implementation of a large variety of surrogate models, to be used either for sensitivity purposes or cost-efficient optimization in WP4.
