The 9th Spring School on “Lattice Boltzmann Methods (LBM) with OpenLB Software Lab” took place from 23 to 27 March 2026 in Liverpool, United Kingdom.
Organised by the Lattice Boltzmann Research Group, which is coordinated by KIT, this 9th edition was part of the FALCON project.
This edition attracted 42 participants from 11 countries. It was organised as an open workshop for developers and researchers from industry and academia who wanted to learn the theoretical and practical aspects of LBM. Participants could choose between Beginners and Advanced courses. The Spring School provided an environment in which to learn about and understand LBM, as well as develop new and interesting research problems.
The poster session this year was won by Maxence Desnoyers with his poster on a “Numerical Framework to Study Structural Wetting Properties of Proton Exchange Membrance Fuel Cell Catalyst Layers”.
Interested? For the 10th edition, the Spring School will take place in Erlangen, Germany, from April 5-9 2027!
